The seek and find experience is another great way for children to engage with Fliparoo The Backflipping Kangaroo. It builds memory skills and attention to detail.

The Australian Southern Cassowary

The Southern Cassowary is a large flightless bird. Unlike in Fliparoo, this bird lives in the Queensland tropical forest. The Cassowary is somewhat of a gardener. It carries seeds all around the forest, helping maintain a healthy forest.

The Cassowary's diet consists of fruits that have fallen from trees and sometimes small vertebrates and invertebrates. Vertebrates are animals that have a backbone, and invertebrates do not. They eat fruits whole, allowing the seeds to be left intact, which is why they are the forest heroes. They travel far distances within the forest, passing the seeds to many areas.

The male and female cassowary only have slight differences. They appear the same, except the females are slightly larger. They can grow up to a staggering 6.56 ft. (2meters)! These animals are solitary and usually only seen together during the mating season, from May to November. The female Cassowary's lay between 3-5 large green eggs. For more info on this magical bird, check out the official Queensland Goverment. You'll be surprised to see how different they look as chicks!

Stay tuned. We'll be getting to know more about the cute, cuddly koalas next!
